What are the roles of a hospital in providing health and social care services?
Hospitals provide services which meet healthcare needs that cannot be handled in primary care. They offer both impatient and outpatient services, emergency care and specialist services such as gynaecology, oncology and acute medical units.
What are the roles of a domiciliary care in providing health and social care services?
This is provided in service user’s home. A care assistant will visit the person, and the frequency and length of the visits will be different depending on the person’s needs.
What are the roles of a hospice care in providing health and social care services?
They provide palliative care to people a the end-of-life stage. They help with pain management, and ensure that people are as comfortable as possible. Their services are holistic, and they offer both emotional and spiritual support. Support is also given to bereaved relatives.
What are the roles of a day care unit in providing health and social care services?
Day care provides short-term, non-residential services for specific groups tailored to their individual needs.
E.g. providing support to people with dementia and give them opportunities to socialise.
What are the roles of a residential home in providing health and social care services?
These are services provided within a staffed home for people who are not able to live at home safely or independently. They often provide specialised services for particular groups.
What are the roles of the workplace in providing health and social care services?
Employers may have procedures in place to offer services to meet employee’s health needs. Workplace health services also manage occupational health risks, and provide support to people recovering following a workplace injury.
