No, only if it is for agricultural rating or type rating conversion.
What are the B-CAT hour requirements?
500hr TT
450hr PIC
250hr Instructing time (PPL & CPL)
30hr X-Country Instructing Time
20hr IF (including 15hr IFT.)
1hr Spin (included if part of C-CAT training)
What are the privileges of a B-CAT
Deliver flight instruction
Conduct Type Ratings
Conduct BFR’s
Conduct PPL X-Country & CPL X Country flight tests
Conduct First Solo flights
Supervise C-Category Instructors
What are the limitations of a B-CAT Instructor?
Cannot instruct night (Unless signed off by a flight examiner), 25hr req.
Cannot teach IFR (Unless signed off by a flight examiner, 50hr x-country PIC IFR req.)
Cannot Teach Multi-engine (Unless signed off by a flight examiner, 50hr req.)
Cannot deliver T/A or Mountain flying unless signed off by a flight examiner.
Cannot deliver spin training, unless signed off by a flight examiner
What are the eligibility requirements for a CPL?
Class 1 Medical
18 Years old
Hold a PPL
Appropriate hours
Demonstrate competency to a flight examiner
Valid, written exam credits for:
Aircraft Tech
Air Law
POF
Met
HF
Nav
What are the privileges of a CPL?
- Act as PIC of a single pilot aircraft for hire/reward
- Act as PIC for a multi-pilot aircraft for hire/reward, but not ATO
- Act as co-pilot for a multi-pilot aircraft for hire/reward
What is an ATO?
An Air Transport Operation (ATO) is an operation for hire or reward,

What is a CTO?
A Commercial Transport Operation (CTO) is an operation for hire or reward where
-Every crew is performing a required duty
-Operating to or from a remote aerodrome
What are the met conditions for sending a student solo on a navigation flight?
16 km visibility and 2000ft cloud base.
What are the requirements for a student to go solo.
16 years old
Class 2 or DL9
Received dual instruction within the last 5 hours of flying
Flying experience within the last 30 days
Comply with conditions of medical
Meet English language requirements (As per AC61-2)
Authorised by instructor (A or B if first solo)
What are the hour requirements for a CPL?
200 hrs TT (or 150 hrs in approved course).
100hrs PIC
30hrs X-Country (Including 20hrs of the navigation training syllabus & cross country flight test)
10hrs IF
5 hrs dual (including 2hrs MF & 2hr LF) as well as the previous 2hrs terrain from PP>.
