B-1 Plans/Specs Flashcards
characteristics of Building that must be designed by a architect or engineer
- building over 600m2 in floor area
- building more then three stories
- buildings with assembly, care, or detention type occupancies
- high hard factories
Normally architects design buildings in accordance to part __ of building code
3
professional engineers normally building accordance to part ___ of building code
4
Large building are broken up into 4 drawings
Architectural
structural
mechanical
electrical
Carpenters typically use what type of plans?
Structural and architectural
Building lines
formed from the exterior of the foundation or exterior of wall
Gridlines
numbered in one direction and lettered in the other direction and are centered on major building components (columns and beams) same from drawing to drawing and floor to floor.
Types of structural drawings
- plan
- Section
- detail drawings
- elevation view
Plan views
looking down on floor plan from top.
Elevation views
view drawing from a sideways view point.
Section
Section view is a vertical slice plane through an object or objects. used for structural and architectural information.
Detailed drawings
Drawiang drawn in large scale to show details of a small portion of the construction.
Labeled with a symbol indicating direction of view, letter and number of detail with page number.
Schedules
used to provide detailed information about specific building components especially ones that are repeated throughout build.
Specifications
many specs for materials and use can be found in nots with structural drawings however all can be found in specification book which is only writing.
Door schedule
provide door size, materials, hardware requirements
doors are indicated by?
symbol on floor plan. usually by letter in a circle.
door measurements
width x height x thickness
Window schedule
also indicated by symbol on floor plan.
show shape, dimensions, and openings.
Room schedule
provide information for finishes in each room.
Wall schedules
like window and door schedules
Legends
legends are used to minimize the amount of repetitive writings in a set of plans.
Shop drawings
shop drawings are used to detail how components are going to be built. (cabinet manufactures, structural steel contractors window manufactures etc…)
Cross sections details.
top number is the cross section or detail number
the bottom indicates the drawing number.
arrow shows the direction that viewer is looking
Footing and wall sections used to show?
dimensions of the members, steel, elevations and inserts/ anchors.
Common Structural steel shapes
L- angle iron
S - standard flange i beam
W - wide flange i beam
C - channel iron i beam
W 200 x 27
Meaning wide flange i beam. 200mm deep flange weighing 27kg per lineal meter.
structural steel drawings
normally simple line drawing but labeled with size and location of members.
Girders and beams
shown on plan views as dashed lines.
revisions
marked in cloud *
Asbuilt drawings
drawing made by builder to show changes made during building process.
Reflecting ceiling plans
used to indicate the ceiling finishes, elevations, and layout. also lighting, mechanical and sprinkler systems.
reflected ceiling plan is a plan as if you were looking down on it.
Eyelets
eyelets are used to attach the hanger wire to the overhead supports for ceiling. they are a steel pin with a loop
