First part of the axillary artery
located between the lateral border of the 1st rib and the medial border of the pectoralis minor.
has a branch: superior thoracic artery
Where does the axillary artery begin?
at the lateral border of the 1st rib as the continuation of the subclavian artery and ends at the inferior border of the teres major.
Second part of the axillary artery
lies posterior to the pectoralis minor and has two branches
thoraco-acrominal artery and lateral thoracic artery.
Third part of axillary artery
extends from the lateral border of the pectoralis minor to the inferior border of the teres major and has three branches.
Subscapular artery- largest branch
anteror circumflex humeral artery
posterior circumflex humeral artery
Axillary vein
lies distally on the antero-medially side of the axillary artery, with its terminal part antero-inferior to the artery. Vein is formed by accompanying brachial veins and the basilic vein at the inferior border of the teres major. Ends at the lateral border of the 1st rib where its becomes subclavian vein.
