What shape is the axilla?

What forms the apex of the axilla?
clavicle, scapula and first rib.
What forms the anterior wall of the axilla?
Pectoralis major + minor, clavicle and subclavius muscle.
What forms the posterior wall of the axilla?
scapula, subscapularis and teres major muscles (with tendon of latissimus dorsi)
What forms the medial wall of the axilla?
upper ribs and intercostals, covered by serratus anterior
What forms the lateral wall of the axilla?
Bicipital groove containing long head of biceps tendon
What forms the base of the axilla?
deep fascia of the arm attached to the axillary folds.
What nerves are within the axilla?
Brachial plexus and some of its branches to the upper limb
What artery is in the axilla?
Axillary Artery (from subclavian artery, goes into the brachial artery). From Lateral border of 1st rib to inferior border of teres major
What vein is in the axilla?
Axillary vein. (from basilic vein, going into subclavian vein). Inferior boder of teres major to lateral border of 1st rib.
What lymphatics are within the axilla?
SCALP (subscapular, central, apical, lateral and pectoral groups). Drain lymph from upper limb, breast and thoracoabdominal walls.
What does the axillary sheath enclose?
Axillary artery, vein and cords of the brachial plexus. NOTE - NOT THE LYMPHATICS.
What shape is the femoral triangle.
Triangle - idiot.
Where is the femoral triangle located?
Anterior superomedial 1/3 of the thigh.
What forms the superior border of the femoral triangle?
inguinal ligament
