Q

the parasympathetic preganglionic axons of the oculomotor nerve exits through the __, follow __, and synapse in __. Then postganglionic axons course with __ and innervate __.

A

superior orbital fissure
inferior divison of oculomotor nerve
ciliary ganglion (in orbit lateral to optic nerve)

short ciliary nerve (V1)

Q

the parasympathetic preganglionic axons of the facial nerve exits through the __, course __, and synapse in __. Then postganglionic axons course with __ and innervate __.

A

internal auditory meatus

VII goes to chorda tympani of VII which joins lingual of V3–>submandibular ganglion (hangs off lingual nerve)–>direct ganglion branches and rejoins lingual (V3)–>submandibular gland and sublingual gland

OR greater petrosal nerve in middle cranial fossa to nerve of pterygoid canal(formed by greater petrosal nerve joining deep petrosal nerve)–>pterygopalatine ganglion (in pterygopalatine fossa)–>pterygopalatine nerves to maxillary (V2) to zygomatic to lacrimal (V1) to lacrimal gland and nasal and palatine nerves of maxillary (V2) to muscous glands of nasal cavity, palate, pharynx

A

jugular foramen
tympanic nerve through middle ear to lesser petrosal nerve (exits through foramen ovale)
