When type of injury occurs in a patient with AD?
Spinal cord injury (T6 or above)
What can cause Autonomic Dyreflexia?
Stimuli caused by full blanket or fecal infarction
Why is AD so serious?
Life threatening due to extremely hypertensive
What is the most common cause?
Urinary obstruction
What are the signs of AD?
Increase in the BP, headache, bradycardia, blurred vision & sweating
What position during the episode?
High fowlers position
What is the treatment for AD?
Removal of the stimuli
Client needs to void or bm as fecal impaction may be present
What is the cause of urinary obstruction that common cause of AD?
Indwelling catheter that are kinked
Other cause of AD?
High BP, bradycardia, gooseflesh (Temperature), and headache
