Autoflight Flashcards
FMGS contains
Provide prediction of flight time, mileage, speed, economy profile and altitude
- 2 FMGC
- 2 MCDU
- 1 FCU
- 2 FAC
FMGS have 2 mode
- Flight management: + Display management \+ prediction \+ navigation \+ management - Flight guidance: AP, FD, A/Thr
MCDU
For crew loading and display of data, allow crew to interface with FMGC by selection of a flight plan for lateral and vertical trajectories and speed profiles
FCU
Short-term interface between crew and the FMGC
FAC
Controls rudder, rudder trim and yaw damper input –>Compute data for flight envelope and speed functions.
FAC provide warning for low-energy and wind shear
Dual Mode
2 FMGC are synchronized each performs its own computations and exchange data through crosstalk bus
- If 1 AP engaged –>FMGC is master (FD onside, controll Athr, FMA 1+2)
- If 2 AP engaged: FMGC 1 is master
- If no AP engaged: FD 1 on FMGC 1 master
FD 1 off, FD 2 on FMGC 2 master
Independent Mode
Each FMGC being controlled by its associated MCDU
Single Mode
Using one FMGC only
Back up Mode
Select on MCDU Menu when both FMGCs fail
They recover the nav functions through mcdu and IRS/GPS
