Air Conditioning Flashcards
Which zone air condition provide to?
3 zone: Cockpit, FWD Cabin, AFT Cabin
3 zones are independently controlled
Air is supplied by pneumatic system via?
- 2 pack flow control valves
- 2 packs
- The mixing unit, which mixes the air that comes from the cabin and packs
A ram air inlet can provide ambient air to the mixing unit in which condition?
In emergency
Temperature regulation of the temperature is controlled by?
1 zone controller and 2 pack controlled
When is the pack flow control valve close automatically?
In case of pack overheat (on ground only), eng start, or operation of the fire or ditching pb
Emergency Ram Air
Ventilate the cockpit and cabin to remove smoke, or if both pack fail
Outflow valve does not automatically open if it is under manual control, even if /\P is less than 1 PSI
Hot air pressure-regulating valve close automatically when?
- The duct overheat
- The cockpit trim air valve fail
- Both cabin trim air valve fail
When do pack controller close?
Ram air inlet flap close during takeoff and landing to avoid ingestion of foreign matter
* During takeoff, close when TO power set and main landing gear struts are compressed
* During landing, close as soon as the main landing gear struts are compressed as long as speed is at or above 70kt.
Open 20s after speed drop below 70kt
When is the system deliver higher flow?
Whatever the Econ Flow selects, the system deliver higher flow (40% more than Econ Flow):
- In single operation
- When the APU is supplying bleed air
Zone controller
Have a primary channel In normally and secondary channel that act as a back up if the primary fail
- primary failure: secondary operates as backup, zone controlled to 24C
- secondary failure: no effect, backup mode is lost
- primary and secondary failure: optimized and backup is lost. The pack deliver a fixed temp 20C for pack 1, 10C for pack 2
Pack controller
- Primary failure: regulation is not optimized. Pack flow is fixed at previous setting
- Secondary failure: no effect, backup mode is lost
- Primary and Secondary failure: pack outlet temp is controlled by anti-ice valve and is stabilized to a temp between 5C and 30C in a maximum of 6 min
Hot air pressure regulating valve failure
- Failed open: No effect
- Fail closed: optimized regulation is lost
Pack 1 control the cockpit
Pack 2 control the cabin
