Auto-Flight Control System Flashcards
When does half bank activate automatically?
31,600 ft or greater
If the autopilot and flight director are off, which FMA will be active if the autopilot is engage?
Pitch and roll
In vertical speed mode, is there a structural speed protection?
Yes
Why are there 2 lights next to the approach switch?
Each light represents one of the two FCC’s (Flight Control Computers)
At what altitude will mach mode replace indicated airspeed mode?
31,600 ft
What does the SYNC button on the back of the yoke do?
The sync button synchronizes the flight director to the present flight attiude.
Will the sync button work with the autopilot engaged?
No
What do the TOGA switches on the thrust levers do for normal take off?
Commands TO/TO mode as active vertical and lateral FMA’s, disengages the autopilot, moves the F/D up to an optimized pitch of 11-18’, updates runway position data on FMS.
What primary condition must be satisfied for the TO/TO FMAs to activate?
Parking Brake off, Flaps set for takeoff 8-20’, V speeds set, Stab trim in TO range, both engines running.
If the below conditions are not satisfied, what will be displayed instead of TO/TO as the active FMA’s? (Parking Brake off, Flaps set for takeoff 8-20’, V speeds set, Stab trim in TO range, both engines running.)
A red line will be through TO/TO
What do the TOGA switches on the thrust levers do duing a go around?
Commands GA/GA mode as the active vertical and lateral FMA’s, disengages the autopilot, moves the F/D up to 10’, inhibits the half bank switch, holds present heading within 5’ bank limit, sequences the FMS missed approach waypoint in the active flight plan.
When is half bank inhibited?
TO/TO mode, GA mode, or when the approach localizer has been armed.
Will the yaw damper failure cause the autopilot to disengage?
Yes
How can the autopilot be disengaged?
A/P DISC switchbar, AP/SP switch on yoke, or TOGA switches.
What is indicated by an amber boxed A on the PDF?
The ailerons are miss trimmed, an AP TRIM IS LWD or RWD caution message will follow shortly after.
