“propinquity effect”: the more interaction = like (only when you feel positive about them).
and mere exposure effect: the more you see sth, the more fondness and functional distance lets this to happen.
- > study, female confed is more liked with more attendance
- > Dorm buildings with closer ppl, the more intimacy.
Similarity
Why?
- due to social validation that what w are like is right
- more enjoyable to be someone who is similar and not disagreeing all the time.
- attraction could promote the feeling of similarity.
- seen esp. strong in NA.
Reciprocal Liking
Makes up the absence of similarity.
-may lead to self fulfilling hypothesis because when they show a favoritism, that person will begin to like them too, causing favoritism for each other.
Physical Attractiveness
Aronson found that this is the only factor that predicted whether they will be tgt in a speed date.
-similar all around the world
W are known to be good looking with cuter faces and M seem appealing with men like features.

To pass genes
M: Little cost, pref. frequent pairing (look for health and fertility)
W:High cost, pref. long term pairing with those with resources.
