Reciprocity
Interaction is reciprocal when each person responds to the other’s verbal signals and facial expressions and elicits a response from them
Interactional reciprocity
Takes place when mum and infant interact in such a way that heir actions and emotions mirrors the other- becomes coordinated
Sexual imprinting
When an animal is imprinted on another animal, like human and displays courtship behaviour towards that that animal

Critical period
Time period,3-6 months, where attachments are to be formed or will have difficulty forming attachments later on
*Social releasers
Babies born w/ a set of innate mechanisms where they display cute behaviours like smiling and cooing. Activates the adult attachment system
Deprivation
The prolonged separation between a child and it’s mother/mother-substitute. Can cause damage to emotional and intellectual development
The critical period
First 2.5 years is critical period, where attachment must be formed. Psychological damage is inevitable
