Atropine Sulfate - MoA

A

Inhibits the actions of acetylcholine at post-ganglionic parasympathetic neuroeffector sites. These blocked vagal effects result in positive chronotropy and dromotropy without increased inotropy. Used to treat primarily bradycardias and organophosphate poisonings

Atropine Sulfate - Dosage

A

Adult: Brady: 0.5mg IVP q 3-5 mins; max dose of 3.0mg or 0.04mg/kg
Peds: 0.02 mg/kg IVP minimum dose of 0.1 mg. Max dose of 0.5mg for child and 1.0mg for a adolescent
