Q

Why use ATP?

A
  • Provides a manageable amount of energy
  • Can couple to endergonic reactions
  • Other molecules may be too varied in shape and not readily available
  • Using ATP ensures all vital functions are performed
  • Large macros require numerous reactions to get the energy (ATP’s energy is readily accessible)

Q

What is the importance of energy coupling?

A

Trasnfer for energy from one reaction to another in order to drive the second reaction

How ATP is made so quickly, broken apart and reassembled million times per second
