What is Atheroma?
build up of fatty material of inside wall artery
What is Atherosclersosis?
progressive narrowing and hardening within an artey potentially resulting in a complete blockage
What are the complications of Artheroma?
they develop slowly over years may acutely cause symptoms due to; anneyrysms & rupture thrombosis haemotoma embolism critical stenosis
What is aetiology?
imbalance between supply and demand of the heart oxygenated blood
What are the causes of Ischaemic Heart Disease?
decease flow or no flow of oxygenated blood
increase demand for oxygen
What are the FIXED risk factors of Ischamic heart disease?
family history
sex (male)
age
genetics
What are the POTENTIALLY REVERSIBLE risk factors of ischaemic heart disease?
hyperlipidema cig smoking hypertension diabetes lack of exercise obesity alc consumption
What are the sign and symptoms of ischamic heart disease?
chest pain (central crushing radiating down left arm or into jaw) SOB pale palpitation syncope nauseous sweating
What are the investigations of ischamic heart disease?
observations - bp/ pulse/ oxygen sats/ resp rate bloods chest x-rays ECG Exercise test
