What is ATC?
Automatic and Track Control System
What is the object of the ATC system?
Trains in same direction - to ensure only one train per Track Section
Trains in opposing direction - to ensure only one train per Single Line Section
What is Station Limit on ATC?
The portion of the track between opposing HA (Home Arrival) Signals
What is a Single Line Section?
The portion of line between two Crossing Loops
What gives authority for a train to enter the Single Line Section?
A Proceed aspect on a Home Departure Signal
What do Home Arrival Signals do in ATC?
What do they have provision for?
Control the entrance of trains into crossing loops. They all have provision for a Low Speed aspect.
What do Home Departure Signals do in ATC?
Control the entrance of trains into Single Line Section. They can be three position Home and also can be Dwarf signals
What are Intermediate Signals?
Their purpose is to expedite the passage of trains running in the same direction.
They control and protect movements for Sidings and Junctions within the Single Line Section
What does a DD (Dwarf Departure) signal do?
Takes you from Sidings to Single Line Section.
Acts the same as Home Departure Signal
What class of signal can Home Departure Signals be?
Home or Dwarf
What class of signal can Home Arrival Signals be
Home only
What is the Clear Medium Speed from a HD signal exception in ATC area?
When departing Crossing Loop with Clear Medium Speed aspect from Home Departure Signal, Train can resume Track Speed (ie speed up from 40km) after the whole train has gone over the points
What is the Dwarf Clear Low Speed exception in ATC area?
When departing Sidings with Clear Low Speed aspect from Departure Dwarf, Train can resume Track Speed (ie speed up from 15km) after the whole train has gone over the points.
