What are the 4 steps of asthma first aid?
A
- Sit person upright
- give 4 separate puffs of blue/grey
- shake puffer
- put one puff in spacer
- take 4 breaths - wait 4 minuets
- if no improvement call 000
keep giving puff every 4 mins until arrive

What is a metered dose inhaler?
A
- Small handheld, pressurised device that delivers
measured dose of medication with each activation - Some need to be primed before use
- holder should be cleaned twice a week
- Tend to be abused → using more than 2 Lannisters a month
but not seeking medical care

What is the use of a spacer?
A
- reduces amount of medication delivered to oropharynx,
9 amount delivered to lungs - useful for people who have difficulty with coordination
- washed with detergent before use 3 monthly

What are the steps for using an inhaler?
A
- Take cap off and shake inhaler
- Breath all the way out
- Put Inhaler in mouth (not steroids) or use spacer
- As you start breathing in slowly through mouth,
press down on inhaler once - Keep breathing in slowly 3 deeply
- Hold your breath and count to 10
- For Inhaled quick relief medicine (B2 agonists)
