This is a type of standardized test used to evaluate an individual’s performance in a specific area.
Ability Test (i.e. cognitive or psychomotor)
This type of test is written for a variety of subjects and levels designed to measure a student’s knowledge or proficiency in something that has been learned or taught.
Achievement Test (i.e. SAT, MAT, CAT)
This type of test is standardized (or norm-referenced) test that is designed to measure a student’s ability to develop or acquire skills and knowledge.
Aptitude Test
This type of test is used to determine how well a student performs on an explicit objective relative to a predetermined performance level
Criterion-referenced Test
This type of test is used to determine a student’s performance in relation to the performance of a group of peers who have taken the same test; often used to make decisions about curriculum and school performance levels.
Norm-referenced Test
This type of rubric is designed to provide specific information about each aspect of a task in order to share specific strengths and weaknesses of a student.

Response to Intervention
This tier of RTI involves screening assessments that are administered to determine which students are at-risk for learning difficulties.
Tier 1
This tier of RTI provides targeted intervention, monitored closely over intervals of time usually longer in duration, usually taught in collaboration with the classroom teacher and specialist
Tier 2
This tier of RTI continues using data to inform student instruction and intervention planning, but it adds additional intensive and individualized support.
