What is the role of Australian Red Cross?
Relief for those in crisis and those who are vulnerable
What is the role of Carers Australia?
Advocates on behalf of carers to provide important national care services and provides carers with support.
What is the role of The Salvation Army?
Provides services and supports to those who need it, such as with financial, counselling, housing and employment.
What is the role of Disability Employment Services?
Helps those with a disability find work and keep the job.
What is the purpose of a Residential Aged Care service?
To provide older people assistance when they can no longer live on their own due to being frail, disability, death of partner. Older people also have assistance with daily living activities, eating, drinking and social/emotional support.
What is the purpose of a Home and Community Care service?
This is so that older people who need assistance can still be taken care of but in their home. Carers come to them as well as nurses, people to help clean the home, and people also come to help them do their shopping by providing assistance and transport.
What help is available to older people in their own homes? List 3:
Nursing help. Help with transport such as getting groceries, attending appointments. Personal care (carers come to the home)
What is the purpose of a Supported Residential Service (SRS)?
To provide accommodation and care to those who need it with their everyday lives.
What are three services provided by a SRS?
Assistance with everyday living such as showering, toileting
Assistance with accessing meals and assistance with eating/nutrition
Assistance in supervision when taking medication
How are aged services funded?
Aged services are funded by the government. The services may be funded in part for some people or in full for others, this depends on the person and their assessment.
