What is a performance test
Rehearsed ability applied to familiar settings
What is an achievement test?
Memorized, from a textbook or curriculum
What is proficiency?
Extemporaneous ability applied to real-world situations
What is Near Transfer?
Specific information that students have learned and their ability to perform using that information in a similar situation. (Using gustar to say you like something)
What is Direct Application?
Memorized ability and your ability to regurgitate facts. (conjugating the verb gustar correctly)
What is Far Transfer?
The ability to take the info you have learned and apply it to a different situation. (3 years later, still be able to use gustar and verbs like it)
What is a dichotomous test item?
One that is either scored right or wrong
Why is generalizability important in assessment?
It shows that grades in one context are still significant in another
What is content validity?
Using expert opinions that justify the validity of your test. Actually samples the subject matter.
What is construct validity?
The way that you’re testing doesn’t get in the way of what students know. For example, you could use a similar testing format throughout the semester.
What is washback?
The effect of assessments on classroom teaching and learning
What is Gain score in a criterion-referenced test?
The percent of posttest minus percent of pretest scores.
