ASIA grade A
aka complete
No sensory or motor function below level of lesion
ASIA grade B
aka Sensory Incomplete

ASIA grade C
aka Motor Incomplete
Motor function is preserved below level of lesion, and most key muscles below the lesion have a muscle grade < 3

Motor function is preserved below level of lesion, and most key muscles below the lesion have a muscle grade > or = 3
ASIA grade E
aka Normal- sensory and motor functions normal
Classification of Motor Level
Determined by the most caudal key muscles that have > or = 3 with the superior segment getting a 5
Classification of Sensory Level
Determined by the most caudal dermatome with normal score (2/2) for pinprick and light touch
