WHat was the aim of Asch?
Asch conducted an experiment to investigate the extent to which social pressure from a majority group could affect a person to conform
what was the method of Asch ?
On one card there is a standard line.
On another card there are 3 lines where one line looks similar to the standard line.
On the first trial the confederates say the correct answer afterwards they say the wrong answer to see whether the naive participant will conform.
12/18 were answered wrong
what are the results of Asch?
The naive participants gave the wrong answer 36.8%
25% did not conform
75% conformed at least once

Conformity increases
What happens as the unanimity decreases such a break the unanimity?
As the unanimity breaks the conformity reduces as if the pps are confident in their answers they wont conform.
What happens if the task difficult is increased?
The conformity increases as a result of informational social influence as they might not know the answer therefore they will conform to what everyone is saying

Tested on american people who come from a individualistic culture but where people are from a collectivist culture they care more about others and their feelings so they will have a higher conformity rate
