Level 2 - Greater amount of asbestos impacted over a larger area. Up to 10 people potentially exposed.
Level 3 - High concentrations of asbestos present. More than 10 personnel potentially exposed.
Example: Level 1 involves a small amount of asbestos exposure.
What is the minimum protection required in areas suspected of asbestos exposure?
Helmet or hair cover, properly fitted P2 mask, disposable coveralls or splash suit, gloves, and PVC boots.
Additional Information: Minimum protection in addition to PPC firefighters must wear protective gear.
What are the post-incident operations for asbestos clean-up and investigation?
Dispose of P2 mask in separate asbestos bag.
Proceed to the rehab sector if applicable.
Miscellaneous Information: Dispose of P2 mask in a separate bag and proceed to rehab sector if needed.
What are the requirements for MFB Step Ups to CFA Stations?
Each MFB appliance must have a minimum of 4 crew with OIC of minimum substantive rank of SO.
Where possible, an appliance from a two-appliance station is used.
MFB appliances retain their call sign or adopt CFA call sign if needed.
A CFA Station Liaison Officer (SLO) will assist MFB crew during Step Up.
Additional Information: MFB crew must have a minimum of two sets of PPC.
