A

First Act of Restraint of Annates - witholding the first year’s income from the office of the bishop which would usually go to the Pope, some argue that this was Henry trying to gain a bargaining chip over the Pope.

A

1532 - English Church gives up power to make church law without the king’s consent in a document called the submission of the Clergy.

A

There were bureaucratic and constitutional changes, such as the emergence of the Privy Council resulting in the curbing of Clerical Power in Government.

1534 Act of Supremacy and treason made Henry the figure head of the Church and made opposing this religion treasonous.
1538 - Second Set of Injunctions had every Parish Bible in English [Language of Worship]

Give evidence that religion stayed the same under Henry.

A

Act of of Six Articles reinstated 2 catholic doctrines, therefore 5/7 reasserted.

After 1538 changes were made back to Catholicism such as Act of Six Articles, the King’s Book 1543.

Removal of Idols and Rood Screens were not fully enforced - the interior of churches remained largely the same.

Catholic practices still accepted. Act of Dispensations 1534 had the English Church follow Catholic Beliefs.

What element of Reformation Parliament led to Cromwell’s downfall?

A

Henry was still a Catholic at heart however Cromwell took advantage of his deteriorating relationship with the Pope to push for more radical protestant reforms. Going against Henry’s wishes.
