  • Lincolnshire uprising ; rebelling against the reformation and dissolution of the monastaries - their leaders were brutally killed.
  • Concerns over religious changes
  • Poor Harvest and high taxes, normally monastaries would help but they had been closed
  • Lack of power in the North

  • Council in the North re-organised and established in York, extending Henry’s ROYAL AUTHORITY
  • Henry became more tyrannous e.g killed 178 rebels despite promising to give them pardons.
  • The Earl of Northumberland was made to give up his land to the crown and Sir Thomas percy (his brother) was killed
  • Challenged Henry’s authority
  • Knock-on effect of Thomas Cromwell’s fall from power
