Jesus didn’t have money, tells peter to go find money in the fish in the lake
Peter finds silver coin in fish and gives it to collector
- Christs head is the vanishing point, goes to the building
Understand difference from building, eye is naturally drawn to Jesus Christ

1.David is a Shepard boy and goliath is a giant who challenges army of Israel
David kills goliath with a sling shot
- commissioned by Medici family, who were seen as underdogs at time but became very wealthy later on
- uses contrapposto, costume reflects fashion trends of period

- People in streets were supposed to look at it, but when it was completed, they couldn’t get it to the top of Florence Cathedral
- Had deep carvings so people could see features from the street
Meant for public appeal and appreciation

- Verrocchio is master and da Vinci is student during time of painting
Verrocchio painted Christ and john; da Vinci painted angel

- jesus is in center being baptized by John the Baptist in Jordan river
2 angels are watching baptism

- Put in dining hall of church for monks
Had more depth than previous last supper painting
- Judas face is cast in shadow, holding bribe money
- Clustered groups into 3s so it looked balance
Balanced composition was important in renaissance because it was an emerging art theory
