What happens in ARDS
A
It starts with a person with a normal lung, then acute insult (such as pneumonia, overdose, trauma)
- Then onset of non-cardiac pulmonary edema, chest X-ray show diffuse lung infiltrates. Hypoxemia not responding to oxygen therapy: Joss of surfactant causes alveolar collapse witha shunt mechanism for hypoxemia

What is treatment for ARDS
A
Therapy principle= oxygen therapy delivered by cpap/peep

What happens in obstructive sleep apnea
A
Usually obese pt, often a male complaining of snoring and daytime sleepiness (somnolence)

A
Polysomnogram after clinical picture depicted as well history

A
Loser weight and sleep with CPAP-Machine
