AR framework Flashcards
Compartment 1: Lines and Arrows
4 Cues
- Lines and arrows in every box
- Lines overlap
- Arrows pointing in particular direction
- Lines overlap other shapes
Compartment 1: Lines and Arrows
11 most common rules
- Number/Parity of intersections linked to number/parity of shapes/a certain shape
- Number of intersections
- Number of parallel lines = number of sides on a shape
- Direction of pointing (adjacent edges or opposite)
- Pointing all sides except (SIDE)
- Number of lines/arrows
- Number of lines NOT touching shapes/a shape
- Number of straight sides
- Lines touching edges of the box
- Number of enclosed spaces
- When the pattern is really easy/ straightforward, they may combine two different patterns at the same time so if a pattern only matches one pattern of the set but not the other, then it would not be part of their set
Compartment 2: Letters and Numbers
2 cues
- Letters or numbers with every box of a set
- Often when there are letters/numbers, there is nothing else in the set
Compartment 2: Letters and numbers
7 most common rules
- Number of right angles
- (Parity/number) Enclosed spaces (spaces that are surrounded by a line like P, O or e)
- Straight letters/numbers vs curved letters/numbers
- Number of letters/numbers
- Number of strikes in each box
- Symmetry (if a letter or number have a line of symmetry)
- NEVER INTERPRET THE LETTERS/NUMBERS TO HAVE A MEANING, THEY ARE JUST SHAPES SO ONLY FOCIS ON THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SHAPE
Compartment 3: Everything looks the same
2 Cues
- The shapes look the same in every box
- The only thing changing is the arrangement of these shapes
Compartment 3: Everything looks the same
7 Common Patterns
- Arrangement of the shapes:
- A particular shape /colour that is always in the corner
- Or always at the bottom
- Or always to the right/left
- Position of a shape relative to another :
- A shape is always above /below another shape
- A colour is always above /below another colour/shape
Compartment 4: Abstract images, swirls, curves
4 Cues
- Each box has irregular lines crossing itself
- No identifiable shapes
- There is one big swirl present in each box
- Every box looks very similar
Compartment 4: Abstract images, swirls, curves
6 Most common patterns
- Number of intersections
- Number is enclosed spaces
- Clockwise/anti-clockwise swirl
- Convex vs concave (goes inwards like a cave)
- Curved vs straight lines
- Number of curved lines (circle is one curve) vs Number of straight lines
Component 5: Overlapping shapes
2 Cues
- There are overlapping shapes in many boxes
- Not all of the boxes need overlapping shapes
Component 5: Overlapping shapes
2 most common patterns
- Number of intersections
- Number of enclosed spaces
Compartment 6: Conditional
2 Cues
- You can’t find any consistent pattern
- You’ve found half a pattern, GFS and came back
- There is one component which is always present and changes between two states within each box
Compartment 6: Conditional
Most common pattern
- This is where X happens it causes Y to happen
- What is being affected and how is it being affected?
- Then what is affecting it?
Compartment 7: Miscellaneous
4 cues
- There is no distinct theme
- It has different shapes
- Could have different colours
- You can’t place it in another compartment
Just GFS, look for smth doable
Compartment 8: Number
6 Most common rules
- no. of shapes = no. sides on shape w most sides
- Add up to even/odd/specific numbers
- Sides on certain colours add to even/odd/specific numbers
- no. of right angles
- no. acute angles
- no. vertices (corners)
- no. of a shape = more or less than another shape
Compartment 9: Positioning
2 cues
- Matrix of shapes
- Some shapes always next to each other
