When will personnel salute indoors?
when reporting to commander, pay officer, military board; at an indoor ceremony, sentry duty indoors

a salute to the union will be fired at 1200 hours at all installations

at 1200 the national salute will be fired at all installations

concludes all reviews, parades, and honor guard ceremonies
What is the origin of the hand salute?
some historians believe it began in great roman times when assassinations were common, is now a way to show respect. Has been modified to touching the hat and is not the hand salute it is today
When would enlisted members salute each other?
reporting to an enlisted president of a board and when reporting in formation

approximately 6 paces
Who should salute an officer in a group of soldiers not in formation?
the first person to see the officer should call the group to attention and everyone salute
