When is a NJP used?
When nonpunitive action is inadequate or inappropriate
Maximum punishment of a Company grade Article 15?
14 days extra duty and restriction, 7 days pay, 1 grade reduction for E-4 and below. Correctional custody for 7 days.
Maximum punishment of Field grade article 15?
45 days extra duty, 60 days restriction, half of pay for 2 months, one or more grade reduction for E-4 and below, one grade reduction for E-6 and E-5. Correctional custody for 30 days.
Maximum punishment for a General grade article 15?
45 days extra duty, 60 days restriction, half pay for 2 months, one or more grade reduction for E-4 and below, one grade reduction for E-6 and E-5, Correctional custody for 30 days.
What if a sex related offense is committed?
The offense must be reported to Army Human Resource Command.

Commanders at all levels and generals not in command
Is Double Punishment prohibited?
Yes, once NJP is imposed no further punishment for the incident my be enacted.
What is the statue of limitation for NJP?
Punishment may not be enacted 2 years after the incident.
How many appeals does a soldier get?
One Appeal
Who can act on appeals?
The next superiors officer or judge advocate may act on appeals
What constitutes for an appeal?
The SM is not guilty or the punishment is excessive.
