AQC IV: Flight Controls Flashcards
How are control inputs transferred from the cockpit to the rotor blades?
cyclic/collective are hydro-mechanically linked to the swashplate and hydraulic servos
tail rotor pedals are mechanically linked to the tail rotor
The pilot’s cyclic differs from the co-pilot’s because it includes:
wheel brake lever, counter-weights
What is the purpose of the longitudnal hydraulic stop?
Prevent main rotor from striking the tail boom during taxi and ground runs. Limits aft movement of swashpate to 2 deg +/- 12 sec
The combined linkage for the main rotor collective pitch and the engine throttles is designed for what?
vary main rotor thrust and engine power simultaneously without changing NR
What items are found only on the pilot’s collective?
Engine condition levers, cargo release button, hydraulic friction clutch wheel
What is the purpose of the ECLs?
Allow pilot to change engine power independently of the other engine without changing collective pitch
What is the purpose of the tail rotor?
directional control/anti-torque
heading control in a hover, yaw control in coordinated flight
What is the purpose of the tail rotor pitch limiter system?
limit T/R pitch based on ambient temp/PA to prevent overload of the T/R drive system/tail boom
How many flight control servos are installed in the flight control system?
4; 3xKAU-30...longitudnal, lateral, collective 1xRA-60B T/R servos LTC-L Longitudinal, T/R, Collective, Lateral
What is the hydraulic servo operating pressure range?
42 +/-3 – 65 +8/-2 kgf/cm2
What is the max allowable hydraulic fluid leakage through seals when operating and when stationary with operating pressure?
4 cubic cm per hour operating
4 cubic cm per 24hr when static
What is the purpose of the intermediate bellcranks?
strenghten vertical section of the control run
Where are cable runs used in the control systems?
rotor brake, engine fuel shutoff valve, directional control hydraulic servo to tail rotor gearbox
What is the purpose of the subpedal micro switches?
allow pilot to introduce directional control inputs while autopilot yaw channel is engaged
What is the purpose of the N2 trim control?
electrical/mechanical link to N2 control levers on FCU ; change N2->Nr without changing N1.
