What is a science?
Discovering the physical and natural world systematically and objectively using empirical methods such as observation and experimentation

Liepzig, Germany in the 1870s
What is structuralism?
Describing the mind in terms of its simplest definable components
What is introspection?
- PPs asked to focus on a sensory object (e.g. metronome)
- PPs systematically report their experiences as of the object by breaking their thoughts into seperate elements
- Reporting sensations, feelings, and images
What type of observation is introspection?
Inferences through indirect observation
