What is the pectoral (shoulder) girdle?
A
Connects arms to the body
Connects with the axial skeleton ONLY at the manubrium
Positions the shoulders
Provides a base for arm movement
Consists of: 2 clavicles (collarbones) and 2 scapulae (shoulder blades)

S-shaped long bone
Articulates with:
- manubrium (sternal end) – medial
- scapula (acromial end) – lateral
