Appendicular Skeleton Flashcards
How many bones does the appendicular skeleton have
126 bones
What does it consist of
Shoulders, upper extremities, hip, and lower extremities
What connects the axial skeleton to the appendicular one
The shoulder girdle. This consist of the scapula ( shoulder blade ) and clavicle ( collar bone)
What is the arm consist of
the humerus ( superior to your elbow ) and ulna is the anterior bone of your forearm and the radius is the posterior of your forearm.
How many bones does the wrist have and what does this create.
27 SMALL separate bones, and because of so many bones, our hands have more movement than any other in our body
What are legs of the lower extremities connected too
connected to the axial skeleton, by the pelvic girdle, formed by hip bones
What does the pelvic girdle protect
It protects the bladder, reproductive organs, lower colon, rectum ( lower part of the large intestine that stores stool)

What does the tibia do and the fibula?
bears all of our body weight and fibula bears no weight
what is the patella
knee caps, located between the femur and fibula,
what does a patella do
