A
Chamberlain’s (British Prime Minister) way of avoiding war by letting Hitler have some of the small things he wanted in hope he wouldn’t take/do anything else.

Arguments FOR appeasement
A
The Treaty was unfair to Germany.
Britain wanted to avoid another war.
Britain was suffering from the depression and couldn’t afford to go to war again.

A
Hitler kept breaking his promises so he couldn’t be trusted.
Made Britain look weak and Hitler powerful.
