Format in Date
MLA: date follows the publisher in the citation; it is not in parentheses
APA: Date follows the author and is in parentheses
Author’s name
MLA: The author’s full name (First Last) is spelled out
APA: The author’s last name is spelled out and first name is reduced to initials
Capitalization
MLA: All major words in the titpe are capitalized and the title is underlined
APA: Only the first word of the title, first word of the subtitle, and any proper nouns are capitalized; everything else is lower case. The title is written in italicized

MLA: “works cited”
APA: “references”
In-text citation
MLA: Last name of author and the page number; doesn’t use commas to separate the material, or p., pp., before the page number
APA: uses the last name of the author and the date. It does use commas and “,” if a page is mentioned - uses p., pp.
