Define anxiety
a normal inborn response either to threat,perceived threat or the absence of people or objects that assure or signify safety
define pathological anxiety
Unpleasant emotional state of subjective fear, tension or nervousness together with uncomfortable physical symptoms
physical / physiological symptoms
Heart: palpitation,missed beat,tightness
Breathing: rapid, difficult,choking sensation
Muscle tension causing aches n pains ( head, neck,back)
Abdominal discomfort: discomfort,nausea, freq of micturation, diarrhoea
Body: weakness, sweating, tremor,hot flushes/chills
psychological symptoms
Fear,feel tense, anger
irritability,agitation,aggression,fidgety
poor concentration
worries or negative thoughts

when is anxiety pathological
when symptoms are:
-excessive
-continous
-uncontrollable
-intolerable
-cause functional impairment: bio,personal,social,occupational
