- Voice tremors

- Loud & rapid speech
- Feeling of dread

Nursing interventions of severe/panic anxiety
- Maintain a calm manner
- Always stay with patients
- Minimise environmental stimuli
- Use clear, simple statements, repetition
- Use low-pitched voice
- “Presenting reality” if perception is distorted
- Administer meds as prescribed (eg. anxiolytics)

- TCAs – clomipramine (oral)
- SSRIs (Fluvoxamine (Luvox), Fluoxetine (Prozac), Paroxetine (Paxil), Sertraline (Zoloft), Citalopram)
- TCAs/SSRI + Buspirone (if anxious) with Clonazepam
- TCAs/SSRI + antipsychotics (if delusional)
Difference btw anxiety and anxiety disorder
