A

Actions:
-partially inhibits the conversion of T4 (more abundant) to T3 (more potent)

Uses: hyperthyroidism

Ex:
propylthiouracil (PTU)
methimazole (Tapazole)

Iodine solutions

A

Actions:
-causes the thyroid cells to become oversaturated with iodine & stop producing thyroid hormones

Uses: acute thyrotoxicosis

Ex:
strong iodine solution
potassium iodine (Thyro-Block)
