Antique Points Flashcards
how is dispersing method done according to Ling Shu?
- insert quick, withdraw slow, leave hole open
- hold needle tightly & then insert (quickly), when the patient feels the Qi, wave the needle & enlarge the hole, then pull the needle out with a twist so that the “evil energy” can be excreted along the needle
describe the tonifying method according to the Ling Shu
- insert slow, withdraw quick, close/press the hole immediately
- insert the needle “wittingly yet unwittingly, the insertion is advancing yet stopping, and the feeling of the patient is like a mosquito bite on the skin”
what is the energetics of Jing-Well pts
exit - external, channel - energy initiates / “issues” out
the qi at the Jing-Wells is the most external, unstable, volatile, shallow & narrow
- needled when person can’t initiate or move out
what is the energetics of Ying-Spring?
Qi / Channel - energy “Flows”
*needled when person has hard time moving, getting a flow going
what is the energetics of Shu-Stream?
Qi has direction, channel-energy “pours”
-these points are the most reactive to needling towards or against the flow / directing energy or pathology toward or away from the body
*needled when person does not know where to go, has no direction
what is the energetics of Jing-River?
Qi has good momentum and really moves, there’s lots of crossroads and interaction, channel-energy “passes through”
- tonified when person can’t interact, or has trouble passing through;
- sedate if there is over-stimulation with world/people
what is the energetics of He Sea?
things converge / come together, the channel-energy “gets into”, the energy units & flows deep within the body, the waterway is broad
*needled when person can’t come back to themselves, needs union?

indications of Jing Well
- fullness below the Heart
- disease of Zang
- Clear heat, restore consciousness & rescue collapse
- treat the “uppermost” reaches of the channel ( the most distal points on any channel clear excess & heat from the opposite end of the channel)
indications of Ying Sping
- clear heat in body
- changes in complexion (color)
- diseases of Yang Channels (with Shu-Stream)
- diseases of Zang Organ (with Shu Stream)
indications of Shu Stream
- Disease of Yang Channels (with Ying Spring)
- Disease of Zang Organ (with Ying Spring)
