When mycobacteria are no longer responding to antimicrobial medicines

Cells can use genes it already posesses to survive antibiotic exposure

Gain of new genetic material that provides the ability to allow survival from antibiotics
What can increase risk of antibiotic resistance
Inappropriate use of antibiotic drugs

What are the principles of antimicrobial stewardship
gibing the right drug at the right time and giving the right dose

What is diagnostic stewardship
Doing the right tests and using the results correctly to give the correct antibiotics
What has to be present for the diagnosis of a penicillin allergy
A rash with blistering, oral or genital ulceration or a severe illness requiring admission into the hospital
