How is Atovaquone/Proguanil (Maloff Protect) taken (5)
A
- P medicine
- To be started one to two days before travel
- To be continued one week after return
- Malaria chemoprophylaxis after a consultation with a pharmacist
- Available to adults over 18 years of age, weighing over 40kg

- POM
- To be started one to two days before travel
- To be continued four weeks after return
- Usual dose for adults and children over 12: 100 mg daily

- P medicine – can be sold over the counter when appropriate
- To be taken weekly and started one week before travel
- To be continued four weeks after return
