Increased risk when combined with insulin
C/I in history of HF
Bladder cancer
C/I in history of bladder cancer or un-investigated macroscopic haematuria
Caution in elderly (increased risk)
Counsel patient to report:
- Haematuria
- Dysuria
- Urgency
Hepatotoxicity
STOP if jaundice occurs
Counsel pt to report:
- N + V
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue
- Dark urine
- Itching
CI
- HF
- BC
- Uninvestigated macroscopic haematuria
- DKA
- Hepatic impairment
Common SE
Bone fracture
Infection
Numbness
Visual impairment
Weight increase
Monitoring
Review safety and efficiency after 3-6 months
Stop treatment if pt responds inadequately
