16
Q

Trazadone

A

Mixed postsynaptic antagonist/serotonin reuptake inhibitor

17
Q

Mirtazapine

A

alpha2 adrenergic block = increased NE release

18
Q

St. Johns Wort

A

Several plant constituents act in combination of reuptake inhibitors and MAOI

19
Q

SSRI Side Effects

A

Acute: diarrhea, nausea, jitters, anxiety, dry mouth, P450 inhibition
Delayed: sexual side effects, weight gain, cognitive blunting
+MAOIs = serotonin syndrome (hyperthermia, rigidity, confusion, HTN)

20
Q

SNRI Side Effects

A

Better tolerated than TCADs

HTN, anxiety, greater withdrawal symptoms than SSRIs,

21
Q

TCAD Side Effects

A

Sedation, anticholinergic effects, weight gain, sex problems

Dangerous overdose - arrhythmias, sudden death, seizures

22
Q

MAOI Side Effects

A

Postural hypotension, HTN crisis from eating foods rich in tyramine (sausage, aged cheese, wine),
seizures, shock, hyperthermia in overdose

23
Q

Buproprion Side Effects

A

Higher seizure risk, anxiety

24
Q

Trazadone Side Effects

A

Drowsiness (used for insomnia)

25
Q

Mirtazapine Side Effects

A

Somnolence, weight gain

26
Q

St. Johns Wort Side Effects

A

P450 inducer
