Q

How does P2Y12 antagonists work and what effects does it have?

A

Action: Inhibit ADP to bind to P2Y12-receptor which inhibits the activation of GP IIb/IIIa receptor

Effects
-Platelets can no longer bind to fibrogen and each other

Q

How does dipyridamole work?

A

Action:
- Inhibits phosphodiesterase, which decreases the degregation of cAMP which inhibits platelets

  • Inhibits uptake of adosine into erythrocytes -> more adosine avalible to inhibit platelets
