Antibiotics Of Central Dogma Flashcards
Streptomycin
Binds 30s subunit to disrupt initiation of translation
Shiga toxin
Binds to 60s subunit to disrupt elongation
Clindmycin/Erythromycin
Bind to 50s subunit to disrupt translocation of the ribosome
Diphtheria toxin
Inactivates EF2-GTP and inhibits elongation
Tetracycline
Binds to small 30s subunit in prokaryotes to block the entry of aminoacyl-tRNA to ribosomal complex
Chloramphenicol
Inhibits peptidyl transferase (prok/mito)
Cycloheimide
Euk. Elongation inhibitor. Inhibits peptidyl transferase
Ricin
Euk elongation inhibitor that binds to large 60s subunit and blocks entry of aminoacyl tRNA to the ribosomal complex.
Puromycin
Causes premature chain termination by assembling at the 3’ end of aminoacylated tRNA and adds to the growing chain to form a puromycylated chain that will lead to premature chain release
