Part of the Pharmacological treatment of Anaphylaxis
With Epinephrine and corticosteroids
Despite blocking Histamine receptors they have no current role in Asthma or COPD management

A

drowsiness / somnolence
from suppression on CNS
newer generations less likely to cross BBB
may also seen dry mouth, dizziness
may be potentiated by alcochol or sedative use

A

Brand name : Benadryl
Older generation drug
Often seen in combination therapy OTC cold medications
Along with adrenergics, cough suppressants, and analgesics
Taken orally, either in liquid or pill form
Commonly used for allergic reactions at home or in the hospital
