Anterolateral neck muscles- NOT supra/infrahyoid Flashcards
longus capitis attachments:
from the anterior tubercles of the transverse processes of cervical vertebrae to the basilar occipital bone
longus capitis innervation:
ventral rami of cervical spinal n. (C1-3)
longus capitis function:
flexion of the head and neck (bilateral) ipsilateral rotation (unilateral)
Longus colli attachments:
rom cervical vertebral bodies to cervical vertebral bodies & transverse processes
Longus colli innervation:
ventral rami of cervical spinal nerves (C2-7)
Longus colli function:
flexion, lateral flexion of the neck, and ipsilateral rotation
Anterior scalene attachments:
from the anterior tubercles (of the transverse processes) of middle cervical vertebrae to the scalene tubercle of the 1st rib
** between the groove for the subclavian artery and vein
Anterior scalene innervation:
lower ventral rami of the cervical spinal nerves.
Anterior scalene function:
elevation of 1st rib (during forced inspiration), flexion, lateral flexion & contralateral rotation of the neck
Middle scalene attachments:
from the transverse processes of cervical vertebrae to 1st rib
Middle scalene innervation:
lower ventral rami of cervical spinal nerves
middle scalene function:
elevation of 1st rib (during forced inspiration) & lateral flexion & contralateral rotation of the neck
** same as other scalenes
posterior scalene attachments:
** ONLY SCALENE ATTACHING ON THE 2ND RIB
from lower cervical transverse processes to the 2nd rib
posterior scalene innervation:
ventral rami of the cervical spinal nerves (C6-8)
**more specific than other 2 scalenes
posterior scalene function:
** same as other scalenes
elevation of the rib (during forced inspiration) & lateral flexion and contralateral rotation of the neck
