Anterior thigh Flashcards
Articularis genus
Attachments: distal femur to suprapatellar bursa
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: pulls suprapatellar bursa superiorly with knee extension
Iliacus (Iliopsoas)
Attachments: superior iliac fossa, iliac crest, ala of sacrum, anterior sacro-iliac ligaments to lesser trochanter
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: flexes hip, stabilizes hip joint, works with psoas major
Psoas major (iliopsoas)
Attachments: transverse processes and bodies of verterbrae T12-L5 to lesser trochanter
Innervation: ventral rami of first lumbar nerve
Actions: flexes hip and trunk with iliacus, flexes spine laterally, balances trunk in sitting position
Rectus femoris
Attachments: AIIS to base of patella/tibial tuberosity via patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: extends knee, flexes hip
Sartorius
Attachments: ASIS to superior/medial tibia (pes anserine)
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: abducts hip, flexes hip, ER hip, flexes knee
Vastus intermedius
Attachments: anterior/lateral femur to patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: extends knee
Vastus lateralis
Attachments: greater trochanter, lateral linea aspera to patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: extends knee
Vastus medialis
Attachments: intertrochanteric line, medial linea aspera to patellar tendon
Innervation: femoral nerve
Actions: extends knee
