anterior thigh Flashcards
what nerve mainly innervates anterior thigh muscles?
femoral nerve
what muscles make up anterior thigh?
pectineus, psoas minor, psoas major, illiacus, iliopsoas, sartorius, and quadriceps (vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius and rectus femoris).
which muscles in anterior thigh are innervated by different nerve? what are they innervated by?
psoas minor and psoas major are innervated by anterior rami.
what muscle is the prime mover?
iliopsoas
what muscles make up the quadriceps?
vastus lateralis
vastus medialis
vastus intermedius
rectus femoris
what is the action of anterior thigh?
flexion
what is the action and innervation of pectineus?
action: adducts and flexes thigh, assist with medial rotation of thigh.
innervation: femoral nerve
what are the attachments of pectineus?
proximal: superior ramus of pubis.
distal: pectineal line of femur.
what does sartorius do? and what nerve innervates it?
action: flexes, abducts and laterally rotates thigh at hip joint.; flexes leg at knee joint.
innervation: femoral nerve.
where does sartorius attach?
proximal: anterior superior iliac spine.
distal: superior part of medial surface of tibia.
